Burlington Dance Academy
Burlington Dance Academy (BDA) is the most tenured dance school in our community. We opened our doors in 1956, building Ontario’s first building exclusively designed for the study of dance in 1980. Our three full-size, mirrored studios are climate-controlled, featuring cushioned spring floors and each ballet class is accompanied by a live pianist.
Each year our students prepare for a professional recital held at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. All students and faculty participate in this special and memorable showcase featuring elaborate costumes, live music, and creative lighting to bring their hard work to the stage for their families and our community.
BDA celebrates graduating students with a formal, onstage presentation at our Year-End Performance in full graduate dress to acknowledging their accomplishments both on and offstage. We have annual scholarships in Ballet, Jazz, and Tap for students that have shown outstanding achievements in those categories.
We give back to our community by dancing in Burlington’s Santa Claus Parade, donating the proceeds of our Competitive Showcase to Carpenter Hospice (a palliative care facility), and fundraising for the Heart and Stroke Foundation during Have a Heart Week, where for a loonie the students can wear pink/purple/white/red colours to their dance classes (which deviates from their regular attire).
