Burlington Historical Society

The Burlington Historical Society was founded in October 1960 and is an affiliated member of the Ontario Historical Society. The Society's meetings, which are open to the general public, are held in the Centennial Room at Burlington Central Library on the 2nd Monday of the month eight times a year: from January through May and September through November. Each month historical subjects are presented by authoritative guest speakers. In addition, members often participate with short presentations on interesting aspects of Burlington history.

Our Archives consist of photographs and documents relating to Burlington's past, carefully preserved and maintained. These records are available to researchers and the general public who are seeking information on local history. The Society always welcomes donations of Burlington related materials to add to our collection.

The Society publishes books and other materials related to Burlington's history as well as a monthly newsletter, the Gazette. Other projects are undertaken from time to time such as presentations to other groups and walking tours of historic parts of Burlington. The Society also provides plaques for Burlington buildings that are more than 100 years old.
