Literacy South Halton

Our door is OPEN to help adults improve their quality of life at home, work and in the community by developing their reading, writing, math and computer literacy skills. Since 1980,  Literacy South Halton has helped over a thousand learners and provided over 50,000 volunteer hours. Literacy and essential skills are the skills we need to work, learn and live and are the foundation for acquiring all other skills.

We are a volunteer driven, non-profit charitable organization dedicated to increasing literacy in the south halton communities of Oakville and Burlington. All our services are complimentary (FREE), confidential, and flexible – allowing adults with other commitments (work or family) to learn with a one-to-one tutor, or attend small group classes. Our core funding is provided by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) but we rely on community support as well to offer a full year-round programme.

Low level literacy is linked to unemployment, low income, health issues and limited involvement in the community. If you believe our services are for you, just OPEN the door. We are here to help improve your quality of life through literacy and discover your potential!
