Maple Park Community Garden
Maple Park community garden was established in 2016 with 37 plots available. In 2018 it was expanded to 51 plots with the assistance of the City of Burlington Neighbourhood Community Matching Fund which granted the Burlington Food Bank $5000 to expand the garden so it could have 7 dedicated plots for their volunteers to grow food for the food bank. Visible from Maple Avenue, between Mapleview Mall and the gymnastic centres, the gardeners welcome visitors to take a peek and be invited inside to check out the variety of food growing.
Burlington's Strategic Plan 2015 - 2040 supports the development of new community gardens across Burlington which may be built and operated either by the city on park land, or by community groups on private and school lands. The community garden coordinator is available to consult with any Burlington agency, business, school or resident group interested in developing new community gardens throughout the city.
